Lemonade Brigade!

LRRoC sends a round of "appaws" to the Allen Family for raising money for our homeless Labradors! Here is what they had to say:
"We had a great lemonade stand with thanks to Crayons Pink Lemonade Brigade. They sent us 120 pre-made cans of lemonade. We held our booth at our neighborhood mall street sale and sold every single can with many donations. Even our rescued yellow lab attended, drawing many awwwws. We raised $100 for LRROC! "

En Memorium....LRRoC Winston

Winston came to LRRoC in 2006 through Adopt-A-Dog, another rescue organization. He had been found in the Licking River and had twisted his leg in the current and landed in the Union County IN shelter. No one knows where he came from or how he became lost. We only know that he came to us to teach us.
Winston was an inspiration to us all and taught us that no matter how old these gentle lost souls....they have a lot of love to give and enjoy making us smile. Winston had a list of medical problems associated with his injury and his age. He was a sweet soul and so, because of his age and failing health, we made the decision for Winston to live in permanent foster care. His foster Mom, Karen, adored him as he did her. She tended to him and his needs until the very end. He never complained and was a great teacher to all of the younger dogs in rescue that he encountered. One of his endearing traits was his "helicopter tail" which made us all laugh. Winston was a great Labassador for his other rescue companions still looking for their forever homes. We were happy to have him and when it was his time to go he told Karen and was surrounded by those that loved him.
We always know that when we take in a senior pet that it is likely they will live out their remaining lives in a foster home. We take care of them for as long as they remain with us and they, in turn, give us unconditional loyalty and joy. Winston is with the Angels now and forever in our hearts.

Another Great Adoption....

Starring LRRoC Steffie......aka "Maya"

This is why we do...what we do.....for them.

LRRoC received a plea to rescue Steffie and her brothers, Stevie (also now adopted) and Stewie (still available), as they were scheduled for euthanasia at the KY shelter in which they were dumped by a local person. Reason for scheduled euthanasia....no room - shelter too crowded.

Every day, thousands of perfectly adoptable dogs are euthanized across the country. LRRoC receives hundreds of e-mails, and phone calls, per week from shelters, volunteer groups, vet hospitals and individuals asking us to take dogs in to our program. Some of the dogs need us to help them become more social, some of them need us for medical issues and the grieving ones, who know not why they are with us now, just need us to hold them and tell them everything will be ok until we help them move on to their new lives. We are just one small Labrador rescue and we cannot save them all. It breaks our hearts to have to say No and it gives us great joy to say Yes and help the gentle souls we are blessed to have in our care for as long as they need us. LRRoC wants to take the time to thank each and every one of our adopters for opening their hearts and their home to one of our wonderful companions.

Coming Soon.......

Chloey's Freedom Fund

Most of you have read Chloey's story on our website. If you have not, please take the time to read her story: Chloey's Story .

Chloey's Life Before Rescue Chloey now...in rescue

We sent out a plea to help repay Chloey's angel and ultimate rescuer. Herman and Bandit, two New York resident kitties, read her story one day while their Mom had the computer on (and wasn't watching!). They knew their Mom's friend, Yvonne of Danville OH, (and Takota's mother) had told her about Chloey. They urged their mom to please help and their kind and very generous mom, Margaret S., called LRRoC and wanted to donate the funds to repay Chloey's angel. LRRoC wants to thank Herman and Bandit, and their parents, for the very kind and generous donation to give back to Chloey's angel, Marcy. When LRRoC heard the news, we immediately called Marcy to let her know and she was extremely grateful and cried at the great news. You see, Marcy had just about wiped out her entire savings for her own 2 dogs that both needed orthopedic surgeries, yet she still managed to come up with the funds to bail out Chloey from her previous life! Here is what Marcy had to say to LRRoC, in a recent e-mail after she heard the news: "It was so nice to talk to you and hear how well Chloey is doing. You can’t imagine how happy it makes me to know that you are fostering her. I can’t thank you enough for your kind words in her bio and receiving this money, but as you know it was never about the money."

Here are Bandit and Herman, lounging at their home in New York!
